Cruise1st launches in Australia July 2010
Sefiani client Cruise1st officially set sail into Australia on the 12th of July. As the UK’s leading online cruise booking specialist, Cruise1st now offers Australian travellers a unique cruise holiday booking experience, providing the widest range of cruising options globally with hundreds of cruises worldwide from dozens of cruise lines from which to search.
Sefiani was engaged to assist the company celebrate its exciting launch in Australia. As part of the launch PR activities, an innovative ‘flash mob’ stunt was executed at Sydney’s Circular Quay on the morning of launch day. Commuters disembarking from the 8.33am ferry from Manly would have been forgiven for thinking they had unwittingly stepped on to the set of an episode of ‘The Love Boat’ when they found themselves surrounded by a group of around 50 students from Sydney’s McDonald College of Performing Arts. Much to the delight of the unsuspecting commuters and bystanders, the students staged a 3-minute impromptu dance routine to the soundtrack of the popular 1980s cruise boat television series.
Sefiani also coordinated an evening cocktail event for Cruise1st’s cruise operators and airline and hotel partners at Cruise Bar at the Overseas Passenger Terminal. In keeping with the cruise theme, guests were welcomed with colourful leis and celebratory cocktails, while again the performances by McDonald College students entertained the guests.
Through its innovative dynamic pricing technology, and easy-to-use website, Cruise1st is the only cruise-focused holiday website in Australia that enables customers to research, package and complete the full booking process in a single, easy transaction, including flights and hotels as well as cruises.
Sandy Greenwood, General Manager Australia for Cruise1st, said, “This is a really exciting time to be launching in Australia when popularity for cruising holidays has never been greater. We are looking forward to offering Australians from all walks of life an easier and more rewarding cruise holiday booking experience.”
Evan Petrelis, leader of Sefiani’s Travel & Tourism practice, said, “We have had an amazing amount of fun seeing the launch of Cruise1st come to life and helping put into action some great creative ideas to raise the awareness of the Cruise1st brand among Australian travellers.”
