Towards the end of 2010 I watched The Guardian (UK) Editor Alan Rusbridger deliver the Andrew Olle lecture on the need to recognise and embrace social and digital media. It was a fascinating view on the consolidation of media, the power and influence of regular people’s voices, and the ease and effectiveness of spreading ideas, information and content online. It is clear that digital and social media has a tremendous amount of influence and credibility, and it is something we’ve actively integrated into our communications strategies and tactics.

To better address our clients’ increasing interest in digital and social media, we assembled the Sefiani Social Media team, which is focused on digital issues management and online stakeholder engagement.

The Sefiani Social Media team has a particular expertise in guiding clients on when and how they should engage with online audiences, providing the digital tools and messaging to best build brand awareness and retain a strong reputation. Some of our digital and social media capabilities include:

  • Online conversation audits
  • Ongoing online monitoring
  • Facebook & Twitter page creation
  • Engagement with online communities
  • Blogs
  • Multimedia releases
  • Unique content development e.g. webchats, vodcasts & podcasts
  • Digital crisis communications & issues management

This blog will share the thoughts and ideas of our team and their views on the public relations industry and how social media is changing the industry we work in.  We also hope to share some useful tips for a range of industries in how to communicate more effectively with your stakeholders.  If you have a few minutes, I’d like to ask each of you to take a brief Sefiani survey on social media use at your company. We can better understand your social media interest and current digital needs, and can share the anonymous results with you in a future blog.
